At the last photokina, Mitsubishi unveiled the Smart Event Module<\/a>, an add-on that allows the flagship of the Mitsubishi photo printer lineup\u2014the CP D90 DW<\/a>, which is also still relatively new\u2014to be expanded into a high-performance event photo system.<\/p>\n\n

At first glance, Mitsubishi\u2019s solution offers the same features as other event photo systems (such as Sinfonia\u2019s PhotoCafe<\/a>, which was also unveiled at photokina\u2014see our second-to-last blog post<\/a> for more on that). However, with these systems, a wireless adapter combined with special software is all that\u2019s needed to transfer photos from a smartphone to the photo printer. Mitsubishi\u2019s Smart Event Module<\/a> goes far beyond such solutions and, instead of a simple wireless adapter, houses a complete mini-PC (Intel NUC, based on Linux). It contains three different servers (HTTP, FTP, and Samba), offering extensive additional capabilities for integrating the print system into networks, managing print jobs, or accessing the printer from multiple computers. <\/p>\n\n

With these features, Mitsubishi caused a sensation among event photographers at photokina. The only downside: the long wait. But now it\u2019s over. The first units have arrived and are available at NORDFOTO Versand<\/strong><\/em><\/a> from stock! <\/p>\n\n

And here\u2019s another exciting piece of news: Originally, the Smart Event Module<\/a> was supposed to be available only as a bundle with a CP D90 DW photo printer<\/a>. But now you can also purchase it separately, allowing you to upgrade any existing CP D90 DW<\/a> into a high-end event photo system! <\/p>\n\n
