Professional photo printers<\/a> based on dye-sublimation technology (often referred to simply as thermal printers<\/a> ) aren\u2019t strictly stationary devices, but due to their size and weight, they aren\u2019t exactly easy to take with you either. For many users, this is a real drawback\u2014for example, for photo booth providers who ship their equipment to customers, or for event photographers who work alone or in small, mobile teams. These users therefore often turn to the CANON Selphy<\/a>, which, while small and lightweight, requires certain compromises as a home photo printer. For example, the long print time is an issue, as is the relatively small media capacity and the microperforation used to separate the printed sheets. Last but not least, the relatively high cost per print is a drawback, as is the fact that this printer supports only a single paper size. <\/p>\n\n

Users who find themselves in this predicament\u2014or rather, this gap\u2014can now breathe a sigh of relief. That\u2019s because two renowned photo printer manufacturers, CITIZEN<\/a> and DNP<\/a>, have stepped up to fill this gap. The CZ-01 (CITIZEN)<\/a> and QW410 (DNP)<\/a> are identical in design and, in a comparative test with their bigger brothers\u2014 the CITIZEN CY-02<\/a> and DNP DS-RX1 HS<\/a> \u2014they stand out by weighing a full eight kilograms less, 69 percent less volume, and 56 percent less footprint. Compared to the CANON Selphy<\/a>, they stand out with print speeds nearly two and a half times faster and professional roll-fed photo paper that is cut automatically\u2014allowing for more than eight times as many prints per roll. In addition, the price per print is over 30 percent lower. Prints are available in six different formats. <\/p>\n\n

Just like the CANON Selphy<\/a>, the CITIZEN CZ-01<\/a> and DNP QW410<\/a> can be powered by an external battery without needing to be plugged into the mains (although such a battery is not yet available), and other accessories have already been spotted that make these two \u201clittle ones\u201d more versatile and easier to control than all of their larger professional counterparts.
