Traditional film developers such as KODAK’s D-76 and HC-100 —along with the brand’s other photographic chemicals—have gone through some turbulent times: Following business sales and changes to licensing agreements in recent years, the situation culminated last year with the announcement that production of KODAK photographic chemicals would be discontinued. And indeed: Retailers could no longer order developers, fixers, or chemical accessories, and even orders that had already been placed were canceled by the sales departments. It was time to use up remaining stock and reorient efforts—which was a real challenge for many. After all, some black-and-white photographers had been developing their films with D-76 or HC-100 for half their lives and had chosen these developers precisely because of their very specific properties.
Committed manufacturers tried to fill the emerging gap with alternative products. And, last but not least, NORDFOTO Versand has always carried a range of photographic chemicals with comparable properties.
Last fall, a news report caught everyone’s attention: A company that had previously manufactured KODAK photographic chemicals acquired the licensing rights for KODAK Professional Chemicals and began rebuilding production. We can now see the result: Under the old brand names, but with slightly modified packaging, KODAK D-76, KODAK HC-110, KODAK X-Tol, KODAK T-Max developer, and fixer have arrived at our store, newly manufactured!
