Twenty years after the introduction of MULTIGRADE IV FB Fiber, HARMAN Technology is launching the improved MULTIGRADE FB Classic. Compared to its predecessor, this paper offers shorter exposure times, improved sharpness, and a higher maximum density; it also responds better to all types of toner. Otherwise, everything remains as tried and true: MULTIGRADE FB Classic is a high-quality black-and-white paper that makes the benefits and quality of ILFORD gradation-shifting papers accessible even to those who prefer baryta paper over paper with a polyethylene-coated backing. Enlargements on this paper are characterized by deep, rich blacks, brilliant whites, and a neutral image tone. Baryta papers are always recommended when retouching, finishing, or extreme durability (archival stability) are important. The baryta-coated paper substrate, with a basis weight of 255 g/m², naturally meets the requirements of these processing methods and is ideally suited for archival durability. Our processing recommendation with Tetenal chemicals: Develop in Eukobrom, use Indicet as the stop bath, and fix in Superfix Plus. Our processing recommendation with Amaloco chemicals: Develop in AM 1001, use S 10 as the stop bath, and fix in X 55 or X 88 (odorless). Our processing recommendations with Ilford chemicals: Develop in Multigrade Developer, use Ilfostop as the stop bath, and fix in Rapid Fixer.
