Monobath allows for the simultaneous development and fixing of black-and-white film—it’s simple and convenient. As the name suggests, a monobath is a single solution that combines the development and fixing processes. This eliminates the need for separate stop and fix baths. With this type of development, agitation rate, temperature (as long as it remains between 20° and 25°), and other processing conditions are not relevant.
Once Part A is mixed with Part B, the chemical solution is ready for use, remains effective for over 14 days, and allows you to develop up to 15 rolls of film. At a temperature between 20° and 25°, this developer produces beautiful results with medium-high contrast and balanced tonal range. Tip on shelf life
Once the two solutions of the monobath are mixed, the chemicals begin to react with each other. If stored this way for an extended period, dark sediment will accumulate at the bottom of the bottles. This should be carefully separated from the rest of the liquid (using a coffee filter or by carefully decanting). Afterward, the Monobad can still be used.We guarantee that the chemicals will function properly for two weeks and 15 films. However, our current experience shows that the Monobad can certainly be used for longer and with more films, though results may vary.
Instructions for Use After mixing Part A and Part B (1+1), you can reuse the solution multiple times over a two-week period. The recommended development time is 8 minutes with a tilting rhythm of 10 seconds per minute. To obtain a 1:1 diluted solution, mix the stock solution (A+B) with an equal amount of water. We recommend using this dilution for a single-use development, although recent tests by ars-imago have shown that this solution can also be reused multiple times. The recommended development time is 10 minutes with a shaking frequency of 10 seconds per minute. The temperature is not a significant factor as long as it remains between 20° and 25°. It is important to rinse normally after development.
