When a manufacturer discontinues production of a device or releases a successor model, you can still purchase replacement parts, accessories, and supplies for it for a few more years. Eventually, however, that too comes to an end. Currently, four photo printers are affected: CITIZEN CX (not the CX-02 Compact!), FUJIFILM ASK 2000 and ASK 2500, and SHINKO / SINFONIA S2145.
Since dye-sublimation photo printers can only use the consumables offered by the respective manufacturer for the specific model, owners of these models will now actually need a new photo printer—even if the old one still works perfectly and you’re completely satisfied with it. The only exception: For the CITIZEN CX, we can supply compatible media for 10×15 cm photos until further notice; in addition, there is still a limited stock of original media sets for 15×20 cm prints.
